After 5 years of regular tough use, this pack is still my go to bag. Wears like iron, and holds everything I need. My son wants it for his Scout hikes. I said I'd get him a new one, but he wants my old one. I'm sure it will hold up for years to come. Either way, looks like I'm buying at least one more soon! (Posted on 11/13/2014)

I got this pack about a week ago and have been more or less pleased with it. I love the clips on the shoulder straps. The adjusters on the shoulder straps are a bit loose, I sometimes slide them lose when putting the pack on as my arm runs across them. The pack fits a bit odd and i find the sternum strap sits a little high. I think some of these issues will be solved when I purchase the frame. I own a few Specops products and love them all. I purchased this pack in 2006 while stationed overseas. 8 years, a couple countries, miles and miles of use and abuse and I must say that the $200+ I cringed over when I first made my purchase was 100% worth every penny. Though I am no longer in the military I use it to carry my gear when I am out on photography adventures. It goes everywhere with me. The zippers have not broken on me yet and the material is Absolutely made of the highest quality materials. Now I just need to buy me the frame for T.h.e pack (Posted on 11/1/2014)

I got this while it was on sale last month and is worth every penny. I like the fact that it's made in the USA and the workmanship is excellent, very heavy duty. I really like the size, perfect for use as a carry-on bag on flights; it's big and can fit a lot but not too big. (Posted on 1/15/2014)

Great day pack, ive had mine for a few years now and the only reason Im wanting to buy another is because of the camo pattern. This bag has been to Kuwait, Iraq, Mongolia, Thailand, and many other places and has survived it all. The double pouches on the front are great for putting things you want to access quickly, the two holes in the top are great for a hydration hose, or radio antennas, the mesh net inside the main compartment can hold maps, paperwork, food, etc.. Away from the rest of your gear and the bright yellow contrast makes it easier to see in low light conditions. Great pack, highly recommended. (Posted on 1/6/2014)

I love the fact that the products are made in the states, hard to find U S companies that produce here. I gave a 5 on price as I got it on blowout sale. Great return policy recently ordered from another tactical company didn't like the layout and quality, sent it back and got charged for shipping and a 15% restocking fee, read the return policy first. Bombproof pack, that said a few things to improve, anatomically curved straps that are a little longer would be great, I'm 6'4" and the sternum strap hits me pretty high. The new style sternum straps as standard on T.H.E. Pack would be better. If bought at the full price the frame should be included, at the price I purchased it I didn't mind paying extra for the frame. The organizers are awesome, wish I had seen the mainframe organizer before buying a Condor drop in, but it wasn't on the website when I ordered, showed up on the site in the last couple days. I will be purchasing the mainframe and another pack while on sale, wish I could get a couple more for Bug out bags for the family. (Posted on 12/26/2013)

I love this bag. I got one from the PX when I was still in the Marine Corps and I have taken it everywhere I have traveled. There are now three of them in my house. I have one that is always packed with all my hunting/camping gear and one that I use for anytime I need a bag. My wife owns the third one. Great bags and I don't believe any other bag could serve the purpose I use them for better. (Posted on 12/25/2013)

Hopefully, I have the right to add my second short review because 2 T.H.E. Packs have been bought and 2 more will be ordered too right now.

For those who intends to make their own backpack multiplatform (load hauling + variable volume with detachable packs), T.H.E. Pack is simply ideal to become an detachable assault pack.

As a Scoutmaster I put this pack through more summer and winter camps, hikes, and climbs than I can count. I use it at work and carry it with me most outings.

The quality of the stitching is excellent, the pockets are large enough without being to big to use, and the pals system is great for hanging anything I want outside the pack.

The only suggestion I might have is; protect the bottom of the pack if you rest it standing up. It's not waterproof which is fine, but I'd like to see something down there to keep oil, dirt, and water from ruining the fabric and webbing.

I bought one of these packs at a Clothing and Sales store for day pack to use around the base. Since that time (2004), It has now been to multiple countries and deployments with the military. I have also used this back for backpacking and camping. Now, I use it daily in my job with a Law Enforcement agency as a gear bag/ rapid response bag.

The only signs of wear on this pack is a small amount fraying on the left hydration tube hole.

This pack has stood the test of time and been a champ doing it. I would recommend this pack to anyone looking for a good day pack/ assault pack/ bail out bag or anything bag.

You CANNOT go wrong with this bag! (Posted on 11/1/2013)

Excellent pack!!!
Bought this pack as a do all school/range/carry on/camping/BOB, and it will fit the bill perfectly for now.

OUTSTANDING build quality. I'm VERY impressed!!! Buckles, stitching, materials, zipper, you name it are flawless and built to last.

Would have liked to see it be a bit bigger, but I think it will get the job done. I can always add pouches if I HAVE to have more space. Looks small until you get it loaded.
Perhaps a T.H.E. XL is in order???

Even at 5'10" The sternum strap is a bit high under heavy load and would prefer to have bladder hangers, but it's not the end of the world. Grommets in the bottom and compartments for pens would be nice, as would the cool back and frame straight from the factory.
Coyote should also be an option over the whole model line.

Sounds like I'm complaining, but I'm really not. This is one great product.

BUY THIS PACK!!! You will not be disappointed.
If it ever wrecks(it won't) I'd surely buy another.

I bought this right before my first deployment mainly for a bag for work. Working on the flightline and hardly getting to eat, I was able to store snacks along with extra things necessary for work without any issues storage-wise. The pack held under the weight of whatever I put in it without the hint of a tear. I put a Monster can in there as a drink for later, only halfway through the day, the can burst leaving a puddle of Monster at the bottom of the bag. After soaking it up with a towel and letting it dry, it only smelled like monster while still holding everything I needed. The only pack I will even think of upgrading to is the UAP and have this as my back up or keep it for a GOOD Bag (Posted on 9/15/2013)

I have taken this thing through jungle, desert, hot and cold, thrown off the back of 7 tons, compleatly submurged and it still holds up. this is one tough pack. when you get it make sure you buy the back support device for it. it helps. the only problem is it could use a little work in the back padding area. other than that this is one of the sickest pieces of gear i have ever owned. I recently purchased the discontinued foliage green pack, and love it. I will say I would never pay $200 for this pack, however, at the reduced $160, it is a better deal. Ideally, this pack would sell for $125-$140, but I'd buy it at $160 now that I know how well made it is. It holds a ton! The construction is second to none. Size is perfect for daily carry, but you can tote more than you want to carry if you need to. I am actually thinking of purchasing this pack in black so that I can use it in uniform, to replace my current pack made by 5.11. What I love about this pack is that it is made in the USA. I love the MOLLE system on this pack. The abililty to attach admin pouches, along with other Co2 pouches from other vendors (SPECOPS should really offer that product BTW) you can make this your personally tailor-made pack perfect for your needs. This is not for the techno-geek who wants/needs a neat little pocketty pack to store all their neat little computer gadgets. This is a true field op pack for those who need a durable pack that will take a beating and keep on meeting the needs of the operator. It is made better than any pack I've used or looked at, and I've seen quite a few. The attention to detail are second to none, yet this is a simple pack made for the go. Get one! I bought an OD version in '02, and it took all of my abuse up until 2011, when a buckle on the shoulder strap broke. But, I dropped it out of an 18 wheeler every day for 7 years....I didn't care if it got dirty, because it was easy to clean and tough. So a buckle breaking after 120 degree heat in Iraq, thousands of hours in hot days in New Mexico, and countless dropping of it, no biggie. If I wasn't a cheapskate I would have bought another, but I was poor then....I'm married after all! I bought an imported bag, and it probably won't last as long! If you don't want to buy a bunch of bags, I suggest buying this one it'll last two to three times longer than anything else. (Posted on 4/22/2013)

Hey guys, just wanted to comment on T.H.E. Pack. I recently purchased T.H.E.Pack and was totally excited to receive it earlier than expected, quality is top notch and organization of pack and the ability to add on is awesome. That's the good news.,, but sorry to have to be the bearer of the bad. I have and have had many packs in my past and one thing that makes a great bag stand out from a good bag is the ability to tailor fit to a personal size and I was a lil set back by the lack of adjustability on such an a well built bag. I think with a small amount of improvement your pack can be the best on the market. If I could make some suggestions to help you to do so, I would add either adjustable shoulder straps or ladder bar for a custom torso adjustment and to draw the pack closer to your shoulders,, and an easier waist belt adjustment for quicker adjustments on the run. I found the waist belt very difficult to adjust and literally had to take the pack off to reset. You have all the makings of a first class pack, just needs to be able to be fine tuned for individual applications. Therefore, I had to return to vendor where I purchased, I just couldn't get pack to fit me personally and feel like a more natural part of my body. But in saying so, I will keep my eyes on your future products. Good luck, and thanks for keeping it made here....John (Posted on 4/21/2013)

I bought this pack around 2006 while on deployment. I've thrown everything you possibly could in it to include PRC119's, Foxtrots, spare radio batteries, chow, and tons of ammo. It doesn't get much field use these days, but I still throw all my gear in the truck and use it on a daily basis for work. Other than the lack of a internal frame, I would say this is the best patrol pack on the market today! (Posted on 4/17/2013)

I bought this pack in Fallujah around 2006. Back then I stuffed everything from spare ammo, food, 119's, foxtrots, and whatever else you can think of. This pack doesn't get much military field use these days, but I've proceeded to throw it in my truck and beat the snot out of it taking to work every day since. Over 6 years later it still looks new! I got this pack around 2002 (cant remember the exact date) & I use this pack for almost everything, from using it as a lap-top computer carrier to hunting to travel. The cinch straps help make it compact and very usefull as a carry-on bag when flying.

It is extremely rugged and durable. Over the years of use it has held up extremely well and takes hard use and abuse like a champ, not like other packs I have tried that had the zippers blow-out after a couple uses.

I like it so much that when my wife needed a pack for hunting, this is the pack I bought her. (Posted on 4/12/2013)

Bought this based on some referrals and is by far the best pack I've owned.

It is well designed, very simple, and very rugged. The yellow inner lining is great for low light conditions. As is it is a great day/assault pack or utilizing all the MOLLE it can be a great 3-day or pack or BOB.

Two of T.H.E. Packs are loaded with bug out gear in the basement as we speak. This is a durable, high-quality pack with plenty of room for your bug-out needs. Mine is loaded with about 25-30 lbs total gear (heaviest items are Mag-lite 2 d cell, Kershaw axe, and Ontario machete). I keep the wife's pack closer to 15-20 lbs loaded. I use one outer pouch for the first aid gear and the other for maps, compass, and some misc. gear. There are great inside pouches as well. The survival shovel and shotgun scabbard hang just fine from the MOLLE straps on the outside. T.H.E. pack is sort of reversible and has a bright yellow high-visibility fabric/liner on the inside. There is also a mesh pocket on the inside where I store a surgical kit and a spare long-sleeve shirt. The stitching all around is great and the D-handle at top is heavy duty.

Be sure to get a waterproof box (mine are orange dry boxes from MTM) to hold your fire equipment and other precious water-fearing items.

In short, this is an awesome backpack. It is made in the United States of America with a fantastic warranty. (Posted on 4/2/2013)

The Pack is the best overnight pack that I know of, and I've tried them all. It holds a lot of gear and has plenty of space for MOLLE attachments. The best part about this pack is it's sturdy and it's simple. It only has three compartments and it's almost indestructible. I've been carrying mine since '07 in the Iraq surge and haven't had one problem. Also, the shoulder straps fit great, are strong and super comfortable. I would recommend getting the frame unless you're just carrying clothes. I throw a few Pack Rats in there with electronics and other loose items. I also cut out sections from an Army sleeping mat two layers thick and put them in the bottom of the pack for padding. Now I can carry laptops, gear, clothes, whatever without having to worry about a padded zipper laptop container like in the office bags. (I don't know anyone who doesn't own a laptop or an iPad at this point.)

Get it. This is the best bag anywhere for the price. (Posted on 3/26/2013)

Settled on the " T.H.E. Pack" a few months ago after some painstaking research, indestructability being my primary concern. From the zippers, hardware, seams and materials to the American hands producing it, the T.H.E. clobbered the competition. The lack of organization and included frame was my only hesitation. These can be overcome by additional purchases. A bit pricey when all is said and done, but "buy once, cry once" applies here. I'm confident I could fill it with bricks and fight off a gorilla with this thing. The yellow interior is GENIOUS and makes a world of difference finding stuff. Between the compression straps and molle webbing I can make this pack as small or big as I need. Take the dive, you'll only have do it once. (Posted on 2/20/2013)

This is the only backpack you should buy, and as tough as this thing is, it will be the last one you will need to buy. It's so well thought out. I use it for school during the week, but take it out on the weekend. Everyone else's crappy Osprey and North Face bags have already fallen apart while this is just getting broken in after having it for 3 months. You're not limited with what you can do because of the webbing, the pockets are very spacial, the zippers feel bulletproof, the grab handle feels like it's made into the bag, and the straps stay comfortable even after a bunch of weight in it. Best of all, this thing is not near as bulky as some of the 'competitors'(like there's any competition) and you don't have to take out a mortgage to get one! (Posted on 9/10/2012)

I bought my ACU pack in 2005. It went through two deployments to Iraq, 4 or 5 leave cycles, with lots of camping, hiking, snowmobiling, and fishing trips, and since I have gotten out of the Army in 09, I have continued to use it in my outdoors adventures. A different fabric pattern would fit me better today but the pack has held up wonderfully. I recall paying much less than the current retail prices back in 2005. I don't remember exactly but I think it was in the 60 dollar range. For the current price there are better packs suited for carrying but durability? This is something that will get passed on to my grand kids I think. (Posted on 9/7/2012)

i'm tall and narrow with a very big chest so packs with curved straps cut into my armpits. of all the tactical pack manufacturers, spec ops is the only one with straight straps. unfortunately, there are no spec ops retailers anywhere around me. fortunately, i've never seen a pack more favorably reviewed on line so i took a chance and ordered. i'm very glad i did.

the pack is excellent--well made, versatile (i'm a civilian), and easy to carry. the spec ops hardware is an improvement over the hardware normally found on packs: it's easier to adjust and appears more rugged. the paracord pulls is a nice addition, although i wish the pulls were on the compression hardware as well. additionally, i would prefer that the yellow interior was in every pocket and that all the edges were taped. molle panels inside the pockets would make the pack perfect. this bag will, without a doubt, outlive me.

larger than it looks, and the compression straps are a great feature on a pack this size.

as a general purpose pack, this one is hard to beat.

a couple of wishes for THE Pack - Mk 2:
1. internal hanging system for hydration bags.
2. internal molle field, or heavy-duty loop velcro so the inside is as modular as the outside.
3. a few rows of molle on the shoulder straps for small accessory pouches.
4. some type of option to attach small incidentals pouches to the waist belt - super convenient for day hikes & when with kids. perhaps an optional belt that has just one row of molle?
5. option to attach to tac vests or chest rigs, or piggyback to larger packs.
5.5. removable shoulder straps (Posted on 6/24/2012)

Best "small" pack to date.Review by NobodyByChoice
Value
Quality
Price
I've had this pack for 5 years. It has accompanied me around the world on vacations and multiple deployments. It's been beaten up by the heat and sand of the desert and countless international and domestic airport baggage handlers.

Not a single strap or molle loop has broken or even frayed. The zippers have never gone off their tracks nor stuck (unless I've zipped over something myself). The clip straps on the sides work excellent, and even after 5 years, they have not lost their tension and grip the pack as tight as I set them to. The shoulder straps are padded well-enough and do their job, but don't expect to come away without some good rashes on your trap muscles if you load the pack with a ton of weight and don't use the waist/chest straps.

The size of the pack is wonderful. I put the "small" in quotes for a reason in the title. It's significantly larger in volume than a bookbag or a Marine Corps-issued assault pack, but it is definitely not a full-sized rucksack by any means. This pack allows you to pack plenty of items, whether for a multi-day patrol or even a week long business trip. The main pouch is treated exactly for what it is - the two smaller front pouches are designed to NOT infringe upon any of the main pouch's space, even when all are full - unlike SO many other packs today - so you can take maximum advantage of the entire pack at once. There are no fancy spots for pencils and wallets and the like here. It's an austere pack as designed. The main pouch simply has a small zippered pocket behind the smaller top pouch, and a slot in the back which can be used for a frame or Camelbak. Two velcroed tabs which flank the top handle allow a water tube to be drawn from either side of the pack.

My only negative comment about the pack is the lack of an included frame. When carrying heavy or hard loads, your back can take a beating unless you either pad it yourself or pack it with this in mind. There is a SpecOps brand hard frame sold separately now, but I have not had the opportunity to use it yet.

The frame is a significant negative in my book, but the rest of the pack is just so absolutely study and well-designed that I STILL feel confident giving this pack 5-stars. (Posted on 6/3/2012)

This pack is amazing! I am using it for my bug out bag, and I have to say I am very impressed! My T.H.E. pack now holds about 35 lbs of gear and equipment and does so without a challenge. I should comment that I don't know how waterproof it is yet but I am sure if needed some scotch guard will do the trick! This pack is second to none and would gladly spend $200.00 on it knowing, what I do know about it now! I purchased it directly from spec ops website for about $100.00 and feel like I stole it!!!!! Yes I said STOLE it! The pockets are perfect for my needs, just wish there was a couple more of them, everyone always wants more don't they? I intend to buy an organizer or maybe two to solve this problem, I guess that is why they make them too. This pack is heavy duty and super rugged, if you don't believe me buy one and try it! I triple dog dare you! Anyway I could not be any happier with my purchase the fit and finish the size, and the rugged value has me blown away! It is not a huge pack but will hold more than you think once you start to fill it! On second thought don't buy this pack......then there will be more for me!!!!! (Posted on 5/27/2012)

I own 2 of theese with a third on the way! My first Pack is Tan, used on deployment to Afghanistan as a Chinook Crew member. D-Ring through the handle and stays supported clipped to the frame rails even fully loaded! Still in excellent shape today, no rips, no tears, no problems...9 years later! Second Pack is ACU Pattern, used for a deployment to Iraq in 06. Same quality, same durability, and my favorite to use for everything, even weekend trips or an overnight somewhere. Recently ordered the Multi-cam Pack, and I anxiously await for it.... As far as the price..... "You get what you pay for!" I've had all sorts of things spill inside, soda, chocolate, shampoo, toothpaste, etc... It all washes out like it was never there. Yes I've thrown it in the dryer, and no it doesn't shrink. Obviously low to NO heat as you might melt the inside. I recommend ......HIGHLY RECOMMEND this Pack to everyone! I've had buddies with Pack failures while on both deployments, and they spent more on replacing damaged packs than just buying this one first! Save the headache, buy the best one first! It's the only one you will need to get the job done! (Posted on 4/10/2012)

This pack has everything that I need and nothing I don't. Plenty of PALs webbing, plenty of adjustment and compression when needed. Its nice and big to make stuffing it with stuff easy, or to put some smaller pouches in it to make it more organized. No PALs webbing inside the pack, but not really that big of a deal for me.

The frame would definitely be a helpful thing to get if you need it for more serious situations.

I wish that the hydration pouch was a little differently designed so that it would be easier to stick my 3L into it, but at least its secure in the pouch and not flopping around. (Posted on 3/16/2012)

I took this pack to Iraq for my deployment in 2005. I purchased various Spec Ops Brand modular pouches (of varying capacities) to "trick" out my pack to hold the ammo and gear that I needed for daily patrols.

I found that this pack was not only far more comfortable than the standard issue molle assault pack that we received, but far more versatile with its molle attachment placement. I was never concerned about the construction of the pack, and found great piece of mind knowing my supplies were secure in the pack.

I continue to use this pack in my civilian life as my everyday carry pack. The modular pouch attachments still never fail during hikes and treks. Additionally the sternum strap and waist belt make the pack more comfortable and secure during bicycle rides to and from work.

I have owned many packs, this is by far my favorite. I will use it until I can use it no longer. (Posted on 1/25/2012)

In my 12 years in the military I have used all sorts of packs, and this is hands down the best one. I had used an OD green one for years and years and never had a problem. The only 2 problems I have are the lack of organization pouches for small items like pens, calculators, and flashlights, the upper outside pouch would be a great place for some small pouches for these items. Also the lack of any rigid back piece is a small problem. I understand you can buy a frame for them (and I just ordered mine), but for 200 dollars I think you could put a 1/8" slab of plastic on the other side of the internal foam back padding for rigidity for carrying medium loads, and sell the optional pack frame with aluminum bars on it for heavier loads. Those are my only 2 bitches/gripes/concerns. Having said that, I liked my old pack so well I just bought a new multicam one for college. (Posted on 1/16/2012)

Face it, most issued gear sucks. Standard USMC daypacks are uncomfortable under load and lack the room to pack essentials, let alone the extras for the "just in case" type of leader. Purchased this pack for my last deployment. Couldn't have been more satisfied with my purchase. Plenty of webbing, room and durable enough to take any environment or situation you will encounter whether it is/was Iraq or Stan. A little pricey, but hard to put a dollar sign on something that you use every mission and after you get out for civilian duty.. whether its simple travel, school, or hunting/day hiking. Highly recommended. Semper Fidelis. (Posted on 1/7/2012)

I was able to get a T.H.E. Pack on sale (old desert camo pattern). It exceeds all my needs as a ditch bag. It's not going to be able to hold all your supplies for a trip over the entire Applachian Trail, but it will definitely hold everything you need for 3 days, including contingencies. The yellow liner does help see into the pack when you are looking for something. The compression straps really do help keep your load from shifting when you move. I really like the padded back and the straps. In short, you can't go wrong with this pack: it may be more capable than what you need it to do, but that gives you lots of room for contingencies. I am a 61 year old homeless vagabond meandering the California coast and I virtually live out of T.H.E. Pack, 24/7, 365, so my pack is my life. It has never let me down yet and probably never will. It is that well made. I love my pack. A little pricey, but so what? You pay for the best and in this case, you get the best, bar none. A suggestion to potential buyers- buy T.H.E. This pack is amazing! The standard packs I was issued often had parts rip or break and I had to rig them to work. One example of how this pack is superior is the zippers; they are much more dependable than other manufacturers'.This pack has never shown any wear and holds more gear more conveniently than I expected. I don't foresee needing to replace it ever. (Posted on 12/23/2011)

The construction of this pack is better than I anticipated. It looks great and I think it may last longer than me. My only issue is the size. It looks bigger in the pictures, however, I have no doubt it will hold everything I need. Also, it is pretty much one of the biggest packs you can get without going to a camping rucksack. I've handled and used just about every high end brand of pack from Eagle, Blackhawk, Camelbak, Maxpedition and even a Kifaru, and this is the pack that I've come to love, and keep as my primary "go bag". While it lacks any real organization compared to a lot of tactical packs on the market, it makes up in build quality. This also allows me to create my own means of organization with various pouches and organizers within the pack. It's been a bit of a learning curve but I've created a system that hard to beat with just the purchase of a pack. I guess what I like most about this pack is, I go to some scary places from time to time and live out of my backpack in an environment that is hard on gear, work wise and weather wise and this pack has just really addressed all the weak points found in most packs, from its almost seam-less shoulder straps, Stitch-less back panel made of 1000d Cordura along with its 1000d Cordura shell and steel "D" rings. 75% of the main compartment is lined with a pack cloth of high density nylon and the top of the pack is double layered Cordura. If you ride the subway and need a nice computer bag with lots of pen loops and velvet pockets, or looking for a bag with a high tech suspension system, this might not be the bag for you, but if you go to third world countries where it rains everyday and the violent locals are literally trying to rip your pack off your back as you run for safety, this may be your pack. After years of searching for a bag that keep it all, it's comfortable and I do not have to be afraid that sooner or later will fall apart, I ended up with what I believe will overlast my next years in the trade: Spec-Ops Trade T.H.E. Pack.

I bought mine on Amazon and when I received it I knew this was the bag I will use forever. First let me say that with this backpack you can do everything else like hiking, traveling, walking in town and even keep your essentials for a bug out case where you want to grab just a bag and run away. T.H.E. Pack fits in the overhead compartment of a big or small aircraft and it is within FAA allowed size for carry on. I use mine to put everything I need for my job and beyond and I really like the way I can organize my things with this pack.

There are 3 main compartments in this backpack. In the main compartment there is a meshed pocket with YKK zip that I use to place a first aid kit and another small survival kit and a small measurement tape. On the zip I also placed a keychain with various usb drives and a couple of bank issued devices to generate passwords for my online banking. The internal of the pack main compartment is a very bright yellow and items can be identified immediately. In the main compartment I have my laptop, two folders containing various files, a pouch which contains my medications and first aid items, another pouch where I keep all my electronic devices cables and adaptors, my Spec-Ops Mini Pocket Organizer where I keep well organized my pens and handy notebooks, my sunglasses and my backup hard disk for my 11" Macbook Air.
There are two front compartment on the backpack where (on the bottom front compartment) I normally keep my Camera, Waterproof Camcorder and a pair of binoculars. They fit perfectly and, as the front pocket is ready accessible, I can get hands on to my cameras immediately. There is also enough space on the bottom front pocket to place my Spec-Ops T.H.E. Wallet which contains my passport and other documents.

In the front top compartment I have all the smaller items that I need more often like my iPhone earphones, iPhone charger, a Sony Digital recorder, reading glasses and microfiber cleaning cloths.

At last I want to enphasize how comfortable this backpack is. With all the items I carry into it, you can really believe it gets really heavy. I have had backpacks of many other brands before but none was as comfortable to carry as my Spec-Ops T.H.E. Pack. What make me say this? First of all I like to carry my pack on one shoulder for short distance walks. It is easier to bring the pack in front of the body to access it. Well, with all other backpacks the task to keep my backpack on one shoulder for me was an impossible task. When walking the pack slides off the shoulder as many times as the steps I take. Really annoying! With T.H.E. Pack it is not an issue. My friend here stays! It does not slide down the shoulder as I walk and it sticks on it like with glue. I believe this pack has been designed and tested by people and not just designed and then mass-produced. The people whom have engineered this pack must have sent a prototype out for testing and worked it out again on the design board until it came out right.

When the pack is placed as per it should be (on both shoulders) the weight is distributed evenly and the comfort increases by 50% as I do not even feel the weight of the gear I am transporting and I can walk with my backpack in this way for hours without getting tired. Great Backpack!

CONCLUSION

If you are looking for a new bag or to upgrade your existing one, go with this backpack with no doubts. You will never regret the extra cost and will have a backpack that will serve you for many years.

Right out of the box I was amazed by the quality of this pack. The yellow liner was a great feature as well. Today I tried the pack out on a 5 mile hike in the mountains of PA. The pack was comfortable and worked out great. I am 6 ft 225 and the pack needs to be pulled a little down the back to get the weight off the shoulders and on the hips which makes the shoulder straps pull up a little. I was able to disconnect the chest strap and move down to the next section on the shoulder strap and it seems like all is good. So many hiking packs are comfortable but not durable, this pack seems to cover both areas! I recommend it to anyone! (Posted on 10/9/2011)

This is a very well made pack. The yellow liner is great. Nothing to complain about in quality department. As good or better than anything out there. I know.

However, the internal compartments are for the most part just that. Nothing else.

Would add velcro lining in the hydration bladder compartment to use for other things such as a firearm or magazine storage.

T.H.E. Pack is the greatest backpack I have ever had the pleasure of owning and using. It is ultra durable and extremely spacious. Everything quick releases when you need to get it off in a hurry, and everything can be tightened down to keep items inside your pack from shifting around and minimizing the size of the pack. MOLLE rigs are great for attaching other gear to the pack as well. Great for overseas deployments as well as civilian activities ranging from camping to going to school. The pack is on the expensive side but do not let that deter you, while pricy, it is still worth the cost. If you find this item ever on sale, I highly recommend you get one for yourself and/or friends and family. (Posted on 9/27/2011)

Good go bag with a unique yellow interior that helps to give contrast between gear and bag for better retrieval in limited visibility. Easily accepts Camelbak bladder and is a rugged piece of equipment much like the rest of Spec Ops gear. I have an OD model that is several years old and still going strong. Originally bought this pack and the pack frame about 2 years ago to use for various camping trips and long distance desert hikes, but it has since become my do everything pack, from airline carry on to school book bag. The build quality of the bag, is excellent, with quality hardware, double stitching, and taped interior seams. I was originally drawn to it by it's the simple design, it consist of one main compartment with a small mesh pockets, ans a pocket to fit a water bladder, and two smaller pocket the top one is large enough to hold a nalgene water bottle and some snacks, the bottom one can comfortably hold an MRE. The pack is literally covered in pals webbing so you can attach whatever pouches you want, giving you tons of flexibility. The straps are comfortable over long distances, under moderately heavy loads of 40-50lbs, and super durable. The grab handle is durable and comfortable to grab. The compression straps are fantastic
letting you fill up the bag an then compact it so that it conforms better to you back.
Like i said overall the best pack I've ever had

I bought my first T.H.E. Pack in Sarajevo during my 3rd tour in Bosnia in 2003, I needed a medium size patrol pack built to last the rest of my tour.
To my surprise it didn't only survive the tour, it survived for 8(!) more years of jungle training, rock climbing, MOUT and every other aspect of making a living in hostile corners of the earth. It even turned out to be a great snowboard pack !
Last spring I carried my Woodland friend to the grave as it was ruined by fire thanks to a smoke grenade.
Didn't have to think about what pack would replace my old friend and I ordered a new one in Coyote, time for new great adventures together.

Thank you for making a great product !

I have owned one of these packs with the insert frame for 4 years now, it has been pulled, tugged and abused that whole time all over the world and I couldn't ask for a better pack. I wish the Army would issue these beauties to the troops as they are larger and provide more flexibility than the normal day packs they currently issue. The attachment points provide flexibility in loadout and over all function. In the end this is the best bang you will get for your dollar and last the longest. (Posted on 6/24/2011)

I was issued this back pack for an upcoming deployment. I've worn other bags before, and with body armor, they cut off the blood circulation in my right arm. This is the first bag I've worn in gear that didn't do that. It's easy to adjust, and loosen, with the pull cords on each plastic slide. I only wish that the camelbak pocket had a hook for my camelbak bladder, and that the holes for the tube were a little bit larger. (Posted on 6/18/2011)

As a British soldier I was issued day sack. When I found myself in Baghdad and my issue one fell apart. Being away from my unit I had to get my self a new day sack.

I am very, very glad I found one of these bags at the PX. It's big enough to carry everything I need for extended patrols. Well designed so that I can find everything quickly, and the biuld quality is second to none. The double flaps at the top mean I can carry radios and hydration with ease, and still fit evrything else I need.

I have taken it all over the world for the last six years and it has never let me down. It is the envy of my company as some of the blokes have gone through two or three day sacks since I have had mine.

As it came in desert tan I hadto paint my original one ot fit in with our cam pattern. As the British Army is moving over to the new multicam style I will have to buy a new one, even though my old one is still perfectly servicable. I just hope you guys will ship to the UK!

Over all, this is a five star bit of kit and well worth the money.

Thanks again, guys for helping me carry all I need to take the fight to the bad guys every time.

I purchased this bag primarily as my B.O.B./G.H.B./G.O.O.D. (insert your own acronyms here) bag. I'm very impressed with it so far. LOADS of PALS webbing. I absolutely love that they're made in the United States. The interior is bright yellow, which really aids in low light searching. The outer pockets are quite large and hold a ton of stuff.

The zippers are heavy duty YKK and will stand up to a lot of abuse, as will everything on this pack. Everything is superbly designed and executed. However, I do think it needs some features/additions:

1. A lot of similar packs have breathable padding where the pack rests on the back. I would like to see breathable padding added (think TAD Gear's F.A.S.T. Pack).

2. I do not like a lot of velcro on a pack, but it would be nice if there was SOME velcro. There should be an area on the top outer pocket for a nametag and maybe blood type/morale patches, etc. I've seen PALS webbing with a velcro stitched to it. If they did that with coyote brown velcro stitched to a few rows/channels of PALS it'd solve the problem. As it is, I bought a Tactical Tailor Modular Badge Panel for this task.

3. Drainage holes/grommets on bottom w/velcro square around them (so user can cover them up if needed - See Maxpedition's drain hole on their Jumbo Versipack for reference). If you have a leaky water bladder or take a spill in a river it's a pain to empty. The main pocket needs it for sure, but I'd put it on the outer pockets as well.

4. Dummy cord loops/lashing points in main pocket and each outer pocket. It would be nice if there was a little paracord loop stitched in the center of each respective pocket for dummy cording items.

5. A hanger for attaching a Camelback water bladder. The included compartment in the main pocket works okay but for piece of mind it would have been nice had there been a loop of paracord or something inside the compartment to hang the water bladder from.

6. PALS compatible webbing going up the entire shoulder strap. As it is, there's a vertical piece of webbing going up to the D-ring that works good for attaching pouches, but true PALS webbing would have been better. Just a simple single row of PALS centered on each shoulder strap going up the entire length (past the D-Ring, too!) would be great.

7. Padded belt option. This one is a no-brainer for heavy loads.

All in all, this is a fantastic pack. While I would like to see the additions I recommended, it is perfectly usable as is. I highly recommend this pack. (Posted on 3/28/2011)

In the field this this pack is awesome. The construction is bulletproof and it holds up really well. I have owned two of these packs, one in woodland camo and the other in digital ACU camo. As long as the Army keeps changing camo patterns, I guess I'll never find out how long one of these will last before it wears out. I have no issues with the performance of these packs in the field. They hold a lot of gear, the padding in the back and straps is comfortable and there is plenty of pals webbing for attaching other items. I have two complaints for this pack. One is the price. In the years since I bought my first pack, the price on these things has skyrocketed, without any visible improvements to the design or construction. What do you get for $200 dollars now that you couldn't get 7 years ago for $120? Nothing that I can see, so the price is questionable. Second issue is the dimensions. When packed full, this bag does NOT fit the standard airline bag dimensions. Imagine the nasty surprise that I got when I was informed that I would have to check my bag and fly from North Carolina to Kyrgzstan without access to my bag, a trip of nearly 24 hours. If this bag is really marketed to Soldiers, how about making it a little more travel friendly by altering the dimensions. I love this pack, but I can't really afford the space to take along two packs when I deploy, one for travel, and one for missions. I will not be buying another one of these packs when the Army comes up with a new camo pattern unless the dimensions get a tweaking. (Posted on 3/14/2011)
