I have had the old zipperd design for some time and its is hands down the best wallet I have owned. the zipper is getting a little worn now and I want to replace it but there is no replacement. Bring back the old zippered design with the single ID panel on the outside. It was an excellent product. (Posted on 5/29/2016)

Spec ops brand is a durable product which lasts me a long time. the price meets the longevity, meaning this is an excellent value.
however, The older, zippered design was better. I just retired that one and switched to this. I found that the new version needs one more credit card slot and there is no need for a double id on the outside. The shark bite closure does not seem as secure as a zipper. My vote is to bring the old version back!

another fine product from spec ops brand. great for holding checkbook and pen. coyote brown is rick color matches usmc brown very well. nice slots to hold credit cards or other and zip pockets for loose change. of course filling up these pockets adds to thickness making it slightly more difficult to close. but still quality product to hold checkbook. not a fan of the id pockets at all. it's a full time job to remove them.
Quality is over the top! I do think it's $5-$10 too high though. (Posted on 3/20/2015)

I bought the wallet-checkbook cover on a whim as I don't carry my checkbook in my pocket. I carry it in my EDC bag and it gets pretty "torn-up".
Now I carry ALL my items in one place. This is a well thought-out piece of equipment. Plastic, cash, change, keys and checks all in one handy easy to use place. Definitely a true "SPEC-OPS" quality product!! (Posted on 12/17/2014)

Had it for over 6 y3ars now and its still a b!tch to get the ID out...pull ev3rything out and toss it in the washer, good as new. This is for the old one, have a shark bite neck wallet..DO NOT LIKE THE SHARK BITE CLOSURES. (Posted on 11/11/2014)

I loved the older zipper version. It was decently thin, had the very cool exterior ID pocket, I could use the paracord loop to keep it around my neck, and I could even just squeeze a passport in there for international travel (a big plus).

After 11 years of use the zipper gave out on my old one. When I went to buy a new one I found the Shark Bite folding closure. I did try this, but it seemed much more bulky and the flap tended to get caught taking in/out of pockets. I tried warranting the old one, but received another 'Shark-Bite' as a replacement.

It still seems to be a quality piece it is just that, I find the functionality is reduced over the zippered unit.

I tried the new version of the checkbook wallet & standard wallet. I can’t get past the flap thing. I checked online and searched for someplace that might have some old stock, but was unsuccessful.

I am sorry to say I am jumping ship and switching brands. (Although if they ever decided to make a zippered version again I will buy 3 on the spot!)

For those of you who have never experienced the quality of the Original Zippered Checkbook Wallet, you may love this, however, this doesn't even compare to the Original . The Original was thinner and zippered. Luckily, I was able to give the Sharkbite version away while purchasing some last remaining stock of the Originals! Lastly, Specops is a great brand and I am shocked they replaced the Original with the Sharkbite... (Posted on 12/25/2013)

I don't usually carry a checkbook around with me. I doubt most people do. However, there are times you just have to write a check. That's where this wonderful thing comes in handy. Not only does it hold my checkbook, but it holds all the other cards and info I might need but don't want to carry around all the time. It also makes me feel secure knowing that my valuable info is protected by Spec.-Ops ruggedness. (Posted on 12/8/2013)

I wanted the old style zipper checkbook which is not available anymore so I sent an email to customer service asking what this "Sharkbite Closure" system is. Thrre times I asked and all three times they said look at the picture. If I understood the picture I would not have asked. I will shop elsewhere. (Posted on 7/19/2013)
Too bulky!Review by Sapper

There original checkbook wallet was perfect I don't know why they tried fixing something that wasn't broken. I wanted a checkbook wallet that just holds a checkbook only. This is more of a replacement for an actual wallet. Most places don't accept checks anymore so Why would you need to bring this around? Plus its too bulky to fit in your pocket. I wanted the last checkbook wallet in a plain color but all they have is acu pattern. Discontinuing the last checkbook wallet for this is a terrible replacement. Looks like I'll have to search elsewhere for a replacement. This design is a major failure. If they want to provide this as an option then fine. But why did they have to discontinue the original checkbook wallet? It was perfect. (Posted on 3/23/2013)

I bought this checkbook wallet to replace my wife's old and worn out checkbook wallet. I expected it would be made well, but I didn't realize how low the standard of quality I had become accustomed to until we received this. This is a textile masterpiece worthy of many more accolades that can be written in a simple review. The organizational layout of this wallet allows for many more items to be stored that in a traditional, cheaply made checkbook wallet. I highly recommend this to anyone even considering purchasing it. My wife and I both love it. I bought myself T. H. E. Wallet J. R. and feel confident that we now both own probably the last wallet we'll ever need. (Posted on 2/28/2013)

Have one of the older versions I use for overseas travel to hold wallet, passport, act. Works great and is nice to be able to use it as a neck wallet. This new version with the exterior ID pockets is even nicer as it allows you to hold what you need most outside of the main wallet so that you don't have to always unzip it! (Posted on 1/7/2013)

Almost TOO tight, trying to get my CAC or Retiree card out is a pain in the a$$, but better it be too tight than lose everything inside it. I have a Coyote Single ID style wallet, but I LOVE IT, and I have never had a single checkbook in it...just the perfect size, other than when its sticking out of my pocket and someone tells me I am about to lost my wallet, then I whip it out and they are like, "Oh...sorry".... LOVE IT! Only issue, I had to put a clip in the zipper as the zipper pull broke off three years ago.... (Posted on 12/17/2012)

Last Checkbook Wallet You'll Ever Need to BuyReview by CBRN_Bill

I bought my T.H.E Checkbook Wallet (olive) about eight or nine years ago at my Military Clothing Sales. It came with me to OIF One and performed spectacularly. I didn’t use it much for the first couple of months, and then AAFES moved into the former gym at Al Asad Air Base. My Checkbook wallet saw much use from then on. I used the heck out of it, and it stood to the task without a glitch.

Fast forward to the present. My Checkbook Wallet is still performing without a glitch. I realize that a lot of people think it is inconvenient to write checks, but my household-six still prefers it to a debit card. For those out there with little patience for us check-writers, I always fill out my check (minus the amount and signature) before getting up to the cashier; thus minimizing the time you’ll be spending behind me as I employ my SpecOps Brand gear.

The only part of my T.H.E. Checbook Wallet that failed me was the vinyl divider; it just couldn’t withstand the rigors of my gear buying activities. I had to replace it for about a buck at the PX.

I expect to use this product until paper checks are obsolete – then after that, It’ll probably work well as an EDC pouch or something.

Just received this in the mail and can't wait to go buy something so I can pull it out and use it! I usually don't carry my checkbook around with me because other wallets have been awkward and bulky. While this wallet holds a ton of stuff, I do not consider it to be bulky. I like the quality of a MADE IN USA product! I have even purchased the Pack-Rat Organizer along with T.H.E. Wallet J.R. for my husband. (Posted on 12/27/2011)

I've had my checkbook almost 10 years. It's been to Canada twice, Manhattan, and all over the western US, sometimes in a guidebag, sometimes a ranger vest, sometimes alone. It's held my passport, way too many receipts, and a ton of stuff. It looks new, except for the ground in dirt. The only way I think it could be improved is if they could make money magically appear in the bill or coin areas.
I chose 4 stars for price because I honestly can't remember what I paid for mine 10 years ago. I daresay I've gotten my money's worth, though. (Posted on 9/29/2011)

I bought mine on deployment in 2006 and have used it daily ever since. It holds all the crap I've stuffed in it (too many credit cards, ID's, business cards, cash, etc, etc). It JUST (>5 years later) got a problem with the zipper and SPECOPS is living up to its "GUARANTEED FOR LIFE" motto. (Posted on 4/13/2011)
