I bought one of these just before deploying to Afghanistan in 2005, I still have that wrap and use it in the winter time to this very day. it is of the most durable material and worth so much more than spec ops has it priced for. (Posted on 7/14/2017)

I am a Canadian forces member and I bought this because my scalp is pathetically sensitive. Used a few different headwraps to no avail. I used this and didn't look back. I've since used it in the hatch as a face wrap in winter, helmet liner for both mounted and dismounted. I've used this fucking amazing piece of kit for a few years. It had taken a beating in my helmet after a few years of use, finilly had to get rid of it but plan to buy another in the coming months. (Posted on 3/16/2017)

bought this mostly for snowboarding but I can tell it's gonna be used for everything outdoors. I wore it for 6 days straight in temps ranging from about 10 to 40 degrees f. Love it! It's made of a very resilient comfortable material that keeps it's stretch and keeps the blistering cold from your face with out burning you up. When I didn't need it on my face I just kept it stacked around my neck and when it was really cold I would put it over my head. you can even double it up and wear as a beanie. I wish the Multicam was on both sides but I knew that before I bought it. (Posted on 3/25/2016)

Bought two of these and got them in time to field test one. The weather was in the low forties and strong winds were blowing. you can adjust the recon wrap to suit your activity level. Working in a vest I dress fairly light so the wrap can be used to cover your head when your not moving to help keep you warm. great gear!!! (Posted on 11/1/2015)

I got this through a gift exchange (to include other s.o.b products) with my a buddy of mine almost five years ago. I wasn't really into the issued gaiter (the stiff brown ones). So I picked up another one which didn't hold up to my expectations; i was in DESPITE need for a neck gaiter! I was delighted when I got this! It really withstood the wind was what I really loved about. I've used it for just about every function that was listed on the packaging, and this piece of gear preformed (flawlessly) every of those functions. I'm still using it to this day and is one of my every day carry items. like always i am EXTREMELY pleased to see that this is made in America! I only trust american made gear whenever my life depends on accomplishing the mission. simply put, American quality is the best quality! (Posted on 4/26/2015)

This was my first experience buying a SOB product, but I have to say it won't be my last! I had been looking at a another brand of multi-function headwear, but SOB took the cake in terms of price.

I have used this in almost every possible configuration, in both hot and cold, and it performs beautifully! It wicks sweat away from your eyes and keeps your ears warm on those brisk mornings. I will definitely be buying the FR if I get deployed anytime soon! (Posted on 4/10/2015)

I ordered this becAuse Of extra points i needed to use, and out of all the options this looked best so i gave it a shot. My only complaint is thaT i think the price could be a bit lower or free shipping. $7 from texas to ohio for a $17 item is a bit much. Now the act product, so far i wear it mostly as a beanie/cap since im bald and it keeps cold wind off mt head. It does a great job at that for Such a light faBRic! Even though it is light it still feels very durable! Ive used it as a partilly face mask while working outside and a breezy day and definitely does help! Great product and i plan on buying other colors of it. (Posted on 2/11/2015)

I have bought a head wrap similar to this before, and it did a great job. However, it wasn't nearly as awesome as the Recon Wrap. I really enjoy all the different modes. I own several different colors of these. The coyote brown version I wore extensively in Afghanistan to keep dust out of my lungs, to keep my head cool, to keep my head or neck warm, to sleep during the day, to protect my neck from insects or straps, you name it. Now I often wear a black one for similar purposes, but the black goes with all my biker crap better. As always, buy Spec Ops Brand. They only make good stuff (Posted on 1/1/2015)

In regards to this item being the most effective thing I took to Afghanistan, I believe that would be an understatement. They are thoroughly well used and I already have more on hand for my next trip. (Posted on 1/28/2012)

The multi-use concept drove me to pick up a Recon Wrap at a gun show to see how the product would fare in my wide range of uses. I’ve purchased two more since then for gifts. Many times products designed to do too many things do none of them very well, but this product does. It’s simple, easy to clean and care for and, in my experience, doesn’t stink after use. I’ve used the Recon Wrap as a face mask in the coldest backcountry, as a sweat rag/hat for travel through the ‘Stans and as a particulate filter when mowing lawns. It’s served very well in each situation.

What you can’t really see in the website images is the design of the product. It’s very simply a seamless tube of somewhat-elastic material about 19 inches long and 8 inches wide (when flat on a table). Their newer version is probably longer since this one is a few years old.

As a balaclava/face mask used in the cold places, it has stayed up and in place better than the silk face masks I’ve owned and seems to breathe better, preventing some of the fogging issues I’d have with silk if it would have to be tucked in under the goggles. The microfiber feels better than the neoprene masks. It’s also easier to talk through and more mobile. It provides plenty of warmth without causing too much sweat (isn’t too thick and wicks well) and does a good job warming and moistening inhaled air. In the sand box it, once again, does a great job wicking the sweat without stinking too much- an important feature of a product that you may have to breathe through- or near- for many days at a time. Another important consideration is that this wrap doesn’t lose its shape. Other face masks I’ve used have a tendency to get stretched out by the end of the day so that they hang loose or drop down from where I want them. This one has not done that. I’ve been skiing for 27 years and have tried many different products. I have no complaints about this product. I’m not sure I’ve even used all the possible configurations.

It works great as a helmet liner (motorcycle, cycling, skiing, PAGST/MICH- especially if you have leather sweatbands on the PAGST).

For those considering this for use with your ACU uniform, I have noticed that the ACU pattern is slightly dark compared to the issue pattern but it’s pretty close. The other colors seem to be close enough as well for use with Multicam and other patterns. Maybe mine’s just dirty. Outside the wire, you’ll be happy to have it to protect your goggles and respiratory system. I’ve comfortably weathered at least one sandstorm in it.

I’ve also noticed that the edges like to roll in a bit at each end of the tube, if you will. That’s not really a problem. The seamless design doesn’t have any stitches to make you itch or act as pressure points. There are no annoying tags sticking out!

Anyway, while I haven’t subjected this product to harsh testing, it has, thus far, been very durable, with no fraying or loose threads even without hemmed edges, just as advertised. An excellent product, I highly recommended it for the outdoor adventurers, soldiers, bikers and cyclists.... My only complaint is that, at their current price, I can’t afford more than the one I have.

While there are said to be many uses for this, and there are, there are more that aren't advertised. It does work as anything, but a face mask. I wouldn't wear it over my mouth and it really isn't much of a cold weather item, but it's the first thing I go for when I need a sweat band. It also makes a VERY nice cover for a pair of binos. Uses are limited by your imagination. (Posted on 10/16/2011)

I've used my two Recon Wraps for around 9 months and I am still amazed at how well they have held up. After lots of PT, dirt & grime, and countless wash/dry cycles they have yet to show any unraveling, staining, or fading. I thought they might lose some stretch, but they still hold tight. I primarily wear mine in ops-mode and it never feels loose. Worth the money for how long they have lasted. Thumbs up. (Posted on 9/20/2011)

As a proud owner of 2 of the Spec Ops Brand Recon Wraps, I am very impressed with this product. I have it in Black and Desert Marpat. I picked up the black at a NX in San Diego when I was there, turns out no D.M. camo, so i had to settle with black. I later on put in a request, and now Spec Ops makes D.M.camo; many thanks (: The product was light, durable and kept me from the high heat and weather conditions I've exposed it to. (saved me from many sunburns as well) There are many recon wraps on the market; however, I wouldn't settle for anything other than the Recon Brand. (Posted on 7/24/2011)
