SPEC-OPSŪ Brand Unveils Break-Through "Battle Buckles" For Its Weapon Slings
Injection molded sling hardware is first specifically designed for the performance requirements of modern shooters and soldiers
LAS VEGAS, NV (February 9, 2006) – Attendees at the SHOT (Shooting, Hunting, Outdoor Trade) Show here today were the first to see the future of tactical gear when Spec.-Ops. Brand unveiled its breakthrough “Battle Buckles” for weapon slings and tactical gear.
The new, proprietary “Battle Buckles” are injection molded plastic buckles and clips that are specifically designed and engineered for the company’s line of advanced weapon slings. CEO Jeff Wemmer said the new Battle Buckles are thicker, stronger and more durable than typical buckles and clips, and will significantly improve sling performance over what's currently available on the market.
“We developed the Battle Buckles is response to direct feedback from the field,” said Wemmer. “Troops told us they wanted foolproof, failure-proof sling hardware designed to meet the demands of desert warfare. The Battle Buckle is the first hardware made specifically for slings.”
Prototype slings using Battle Buckles have shown significantly more tensile strength and impact resistance than traditional slings. The Battle Buckle designs also offer better gripping surfaces than typical buckles and clips, making a sling easier to adjust, particularly when wearing gloves.
“It’s like the difference between plastic grips on a bike’s handle bars and old fashioned polished chrome. It’s more than cosmetic, it’s a difference in performance,” Wemmer said. “And when you’re talking about this kind of difference on a weapon sling, you’re talking about split seconds that can make the world of difference.”
Spec.-Ops. Brand weapon slings incorporating the new buckles are expected to ship by May 1.
At SHOT Show, Spec.-Ops. Brand also introduced two new products: an “airport friendly” version of its top-selling Better BDU Belt and the Multi-Position Holster, a body armor-mounted version of its innovative “Vapor” Holster.
Spec.-Ops. Brand’s new “airport friendly” Better BDU Belt uses a single-piece injection molded Battle Buckle instead of a metal buckle. It is tough enough to withstand the most rigorous battle conditions yet allows the wearer to pass easily through security.
The Spec.-Ops. Brand Multi-Position Holster is a lightweight, high-performance tactical holster with a hybrid nylon and Kydex® construction. It is MOLLE and PALS compatible, and mounts to all Spec.-Ops. Brand load bearing vests and Interceptor Body Armor. It has GRID-LOK webbing loops on the front panel to attach magazine pouches and other accessories.
