SPEC.-OPS.® Brand Retools and improves weapon slings with innovative BATTLE BUCKLES™ hardware
New versions with the patent-pending sling hardware to ship soon
ORLANDO, FL (January 11, 2007) – At the SHOT SHOW here today, Spec.-Ops. Brand announced that it is retooling its line of advanced weapon slings to incorporate the company’s innovative, patent-pending Battle Buckles™, the first hardware designed specifically for weapon slings used in modern desert warfare. New versions of the slings will begin shipping Spring 2007.
The Battle Buckles are injection-molded plastic buckles and clips specifically designed and engineered for the company’s line of superior weapon slings. Battle Buckles are thicker, stronger and more durable than typical buckles and clips, and significantly improve sling performance. The Battle Buckle designs offer better gripping surfaces, making a sling easier to adjust, particularly when wearing gloves.
“It’s like the difference between modern-day plastic grips on a bike’s handle bars and old fashioned polished chrome. It’s more than cosmetic, it’s a difference in performance,” said Spec.-Ops. Brand CEO Jeff Wemmer. “And when you’re talking about performance of a weapon sling, you’re talking about split seconds that can make the world of difference.”
The first slings to ship with the new Battle Buckles will be the company’s two universal-style slings, the UNIVERSAL MAMBA Combat Fighting Sling, a three-point combat fighting sling that was recently recognized with an Innovation Award from law enforcement publisher Cygnus Public Safety Group and the LoneStar Rig single point sling.
Spec-Ops has set the performance standard for combat fighting slings with innovations like the UNIVERSAL design, which allows the sling to be mounted to all weapons platforms; the patent-pending “Uni-Link” feature, which improves the way it is mounted; and the Power Strike Zone™, which permits non-lethal strikes with the weapon muzzle with the weapon slung and in “ready” position. A universal-style sling can be used by right-handed or left-handed shooters.
The new versions of the UNIVERSAL MAMBA and LoneStar Rig will ship in Spring 2007. Other company slings, the MAMBA, Master Blaster, Sling 101 and WolfHook, will convert to the Battle Buckles over the course of the year.
