Spec.-Ops. Brand Introduces OVER-ARMOR Vest for Interceptor Body Armor System
Innovative product demonstrates Spec.-Ops. Brand commitment to creating smart solutions for the everyday equipment needs of U.S. troops in the field
MONAHANS, TX (August 10, 2005) – Spec.-Ops. Brand today introduced the OVER-ARMOR™ Vest for the Interceptor Body Armor System, the latest innovation in its line of pioneering, high-performance tactical nylon gear for military, law enforcement and other demanding applications.
OVER-ARMOR was demonstrated for U.S. Representative Mike Conaway (R-Texas 11th) during his visit to the company’s advanced design and manufacturing facility here. Conaway sits on the House Armed Services Committee overseeing military affairs.
Spec.-Ops Brand developed OVER-ARMOR in response to direct feedback from U.S. troops serving in Iraq and Afghanistan, who wanted to maximize “on-body cargo” carrying capacity. They also needed to be able to quickly and easily remove the carried load from their body armor. Spec.-Ops. Brand used the feedback to create a load-bearing vest that simply slips on over standard body armor systems and can be removed just as easily.
“Wearing body armor is pretty much a full-time experience for our troops. Even back at base, they need the ballistic protection of body armor, but they don’t need to be wasting time and energy loading and unloading gear all day long,” said Jeff Wemmer, CEO and founder of Spec.-Ops. Brand. “Slipping this vest on and off solves the problem.”
Wemmer told Conaway that his company is committed to developing smart, innovative solutions that meet the everyday equipment needs of America’s fighting men and women.
“We are particularly pleased with OVER-ARMOR because it will help improve both performance and safety for our troops,” Wemmer said.
Four simple adjustment points allow the OVER-ARMOR Vest to fit over all existing U.S. Military body armor systems. In addition, its unique wrap-around design increases cargo capacity, offering 50 percent more mounting space than conventional systems and enabling troops to better balance the load.
OVER-ARMOR’s 1000 D. Cordura fabric is available in three camo patterns, Tan, Coyote Brown and the Army’s new Universal Camouflage Pattern. It has large hook-and-loop frontal panels to accommodate name rank and insignia, as well as numerous GRID-LOK™ loops to offer maximum flexibility in attaching pouches and mission-specific gear. The vest, backed by Spec.-Ops. Brand’s unique lifetime guarantee, is stitched with high tenacity nylon thread and webbing, and has a YKK # 10 “self-healing” coil zipper. Redundant stitching and bar-tack reinforcements provide extra durability. Weapons mounting points using welded D-rings ensure secure weapons attachment and instant access. Retail list price for OVER-ARMOR is $149.95.
