SPEC.-OPS.® Brand Launches Innovative Medical Pouch And ACU Version Of Popular Wallet
Company also releases list of 2006 Spec.-Ops. Brand combat essential gear available in ACU pattern
FORT BLISS, TX (January 9, 2006) – At the 6 th Annual Sergeant Major of the Army Nominative Command Sergeants Major Conference here today, Spec.-Ops. Brand launched two additions to its line of pioneering, tactical nylon gear: a Medical Pouch and an ACU (Army Combat Uniform) pattern version of the popular T.H.E. (Tactical Holds Everything) Wallet. The company also released the list of its combat essential gear that will be available in 2006 in the ACU pattern or matching solid.
Current issue first aid pouches are too small and are not clearly marked as medical specific, which can waste critical time when someone is injured. The Spec.-Ops Brand Medical Pouch is large enough to carry all of the components of the new IFAK (Improved First-Aid Kit) and has a permanently attached red webbing top strap for immediate identification. Made of double-wall 1000 D. Cordura, it is available in two sizes, in Black, Olive, Tan, Coyote Brown and the new ACU pattern.
Spec.-Ops. Brand’s innovative, rugged T.H.E. Wallet, one of the most popular items in the Spec.-Ops. product line, is being released in an ACU pattern version at the request of soldiers in the field. According to company CEO Jeff Wemmer, they like the flexibility of being able to wear T.H.E. Wallet around their neck as an ID holder, but that means it has to match the uniform. T.H.E. Wallet is made from Cordura® 1000 D. nylon fabric and nylon pack cloth, double stitched and bar-tacked at critical stress points, and also is available in Black, Olive, Tan, Desert Camo, Woodland Camo and Coyote Brown.
NEW YEAR, NEW UNIFORM, NEW GEAR Spec.-Ops. Brand started shipping ACU pattern versions of its tactical gear last February when the Army began issuing the ACU to combat brigades deploying to Iraq and Afghanistan.
Since October, the ACU has been part of the initial clothing issue for new soldiers, and all soldiers are expected to have two sets by 2007 and four sets by 2008 when the ACU will replace the current battle dress uniform (BDU) and desert combat uniform armywide. The ACU is slated to go on sale in military clothing stores this month.
To coincide with the appearance of the new pattern in stores, more than 20 Spec.-Ops. Brand combat essential items are available in the ACU pattern or the matching solid Foliage Green. Some of the products include the T.H.E. Pack, the Combat Master knife sheath, the VAPOR Holster and most of the company’s MOLLE-compatible pouches and light sheaths.
“Soldiers are required to use combat gear that meets military specifications, including color and pattern. It’s a simple safety issue,” said Jeff Wemmer, CEO of Spec.-Ops. Brand. “All our popular combat essential items are now available to them as they replace their BDUs with the new ACU over the next two years.”
